Results are expected within 3 hours upon receiving the sample.

  • Clinics are advised to use Plexus or CMS to meet the required turnaround time of conveying the results to patients within 48 hours of their departure flight ahead of the delivery of the hard copy lab report
  • Results will be published in our digital portal Plexus. Sign up via www.eplexus.sg
  • Results will also be published via the following Clinic Management Systems (CMS) if you have authorised us to link-up previously.
    • Email delivery of the PDF version of the Lab Report to your designated email address is also available (but will apply to all your lab reports)

    Hard copy results will be sent to the clinic the next day. 

    Turnaround Time is measured from time the sample is received by the laboratory to resulting for verified negative results.

    Sample Requirement

    One nasopharyngeal swab to be taken by the ordering doctor. Swabs are to be transported in 3mL universal transport media (UTM).

    Samples are to be labelled with patient labels clearly and double-bagged.

    Place the completed Lab Request Form in the side pouch of the outermost biohazard bag.

    Samples taken after despatch hours can be stored overnight in the fridge at 2-8°C for next day collection. Swab samples in UTM are stable for 48 hours at 2-25°C. 

    For the safety of our staff, PLS reserves the right to reject specimens at the point of despatch collection if leakage is evident. 

    For despatch requests, please inform us that there is/are COVID-19 sample(s) for collection and the quantity. Our despatcher will need to bring cooler boxes along for COVID-19 sample collection.

    Q. How can I get a copy of the Parkway Laboratory Services Guide?

    Ordering Test

    Q. Can I add on an additional test after a blood sample has been taken?

    This depends on the status of the sample. Please call us at 62789188 as soon as possible so that we can conduct the relevant checks on whether we can assist you with the request.

    Q. Can test profiles be customised for my clinic?

    Yes, if a profile you are looking for is not an existing profile listed in our laboratory services guide, please email [email protected] so that we can specially tailor profiles to cater to your needs.

    Q. Do you have laboratory services after opening hours?

    While we only accept samples during outpatient lab operating hours, samples continue to be processed after hours. For after hours inpatient specimens, samples will be sent through the Accident & Emergency department - additional charges will apply.

    Consumable

    Q. How do I request for consumables?

    The fastest way is to make your request via Plexus. Alternatively, please call us at 62789188 to make your request.

    Test Result

    Q. I am a co-managing physician for one of my patients. Can my patient's test results be sent to me even though another physician ordered the test?

    In order to safeguard confidentiality, test results will only be released directly to the physician who ordered the tests. However, we can also release results to co-managing physicians if the physician who ordered the tests makes an indication to do so in the lab request form.

    Billing

    Q. When are billing invoices usually issued?

    Billing invoices are usually issued on the 2nd or the beginning of each month.

    Q. Where should I mail my cheques to?

      Taking a Tests

      Q. Can I walk into the outpatient lab for a blood test?

      If you have consulted a doctor and the clinic has provided you with a completed laboratory request form, you may visit our outpatient labs for a blood test. Patients must produce the completed laboratory request form in order for us to proceed with the doctor's orders.

      If you have not consulted a doctor, please do so. As blood test results are best interpreted with clinical findings and family history, you should seek a doctor’s advice so relevant tests for your condition are appropriately analysed. Besides visiting your family physician or specialist, you may wish to have the tests done at any of our Parkway Shenton Medical Group clinics located island wide. Or you may also opt to have tests done at Executive Health Screeners, located within our hospital premises.

      After your consultation with the doctor, the clinic will assist to complete a laboratory request form and you may have your blood samples drawn either at the clinic or at one of our outpatient laboratories.

      Q. How long must I fast if required?

      If the tests you are doing require fasting, you should fast for at least 12 hours after a normal meal.

      Q. Can I drink while fasting?

      You can drink plain water during the fasting period

      Q. Where can I go for my blood to be drawn?

      You may visit us at any of our outpatient laboratories during office hours with a Laboratory Request Form signed by your doctor.

      Test Result

      Q. Where can I get my laboratory report after a blood screening?

      Your laboratory report will be sent to your doctor when completed.

      Q. Can test results be sent to me directly?

      Test results will only be released directly to the physician who ordered the tests. This is because test results need to be reviewed in consultation with a physician for an in depth explanation and interpretation of your results.

      Q. Who should explain to me about my laboratory results?

      Laboratory results should only be interpreted together with clinical findings and family history, therefore your doctor is the best person to interpret your laboratory results.

      Q. How soon can I get my results?

      Different tests have different turnaround time for the completion of the tests. It can range between an hour to 14 days. Please check with your doctor.

      Payment

      Q. My doctor has asked me to pay for my blood tests at the laboratory. What mode of payment do you accept?

      We accept cash, major credit cards and NETS.
