Conditions for Medical Centre In-Clinic Phlebotomy Services for Tests with Special Sample Collection Requirements

TEST PROCEDURETEST REQUIREMENTSMEDICAL CENTRE* OUTPATIENT CLINICS MUST:
ACTH

(Adenocorticotrophic Hormone)

  1. Prechilled EDTA sample tube
  2. Sample transported in ICE^
  1. Have a refrigerator to store sample tube
  2. Have ice available in the clinic
  3. Send the sample to the lab IMMEDIATELY
Blood Culture

Must be performed under ASEPTIC technique

  1. Have a designated room with a proper table and chair for sample drawing
  2. Have a wash sink to perform hand hygiene
  3. Have proper requisites to perform Blood Culture Collection
GXM

(Group & Crossmatch)

Pre-admitted patient (NRIC/ Identification number must be present) Ensure patient pre-admission is done first
Homocysteine

EDTA tube transported in ICE^

  1. Have ice available in the clinic
  2. Send sample to the lab IMMEDIATELY
IPTH

(Parathyroid Hormone)

Plain tube transported in ICE^

  1. Have ice available in the clinic
  2. Send sample to the lab IMMEDIATELY
Ammonia

(Parathyroid Hormone)

Lithium Heparin tube transported in ICE^
  1. Have ice available in the clinic
  2. Send sample to the lab IMMEDIATELY
Note:

*For clinics located in IHH Singapore's Hospitals' Medical Centres only
^Please do not place specimen in direct contact with the ice.
